A stump left behind is a mower obstacle, a tripping hazard, and a slow invitation to insects. Grinding it out is quicker and cleaner than digging it, and the ground can be seeded or planted right after.

Reinhardt Tree Service grinds stumps of any size, whether it is the one we just removed, the old one in the front yard, or every stump on a freshly cleared lot.

What's included

  • Single stump grinding and multi-stump lots
  • Grinding below grade so the spot can be seeded or sodded
  • Surface roots ground where they push up lawn or pavement
  • Grindings raked into the hole or hauled off, your choice

How it goes

  1. Measure the stumps

Diameter, count, and access decide the price, so we look or ask for a photo with something for scale.

  2. Written estimate

A number in writing before the grinder shows up.

  3. Grind and clean

Stumps are ground below grade, the grindings are dealt with as agreed, and the area is left ready to fill and seed.

Stump Grinding questions

How deep do you grind a stump?

Several inches below grade as standard, which is enough to seed or sod over. If you plan to plant a new tree or pour in that spot, tell us and we grind deeper.

Can you grind a stump in a tight spot?

Usually yes. Stump grinders are compact and fit through most gates and between most buildings. Send a photo and we will tell you.

What do I do with the grindings?

They can be raked back into the hole to settle, spread as mulch, or hauled away. Most people fill the hole with the grindings and top with soil before seeding.
